The theme of this mural is “resilience,” chosen by the residents of this TCHC building. Facing many complex issues, this project united residents to discuss these challenges constructively. Guided by the youth artist team, the residents selected a design that speaks to their strength and resilience in the face of hardship.
The mural begins with an image of a figure pulling away a wall, unveiling a new world of inner and outer space, representing the endless possibilities that await us. At the center of the design is a rising phoenix, a universal symbol of strength, fire, and passion. Next to it is a scene from the natural world with a figure representing Mother Nature. The design concludes with a rose growing out of concrete, symbolizing overcoming impossible odds.
