The Susan Street Mural is a powerful tribute to the children of Scarborough and the mothers and caregivers who support their growth. At 14 stories tall, the figures tower over Lawrence Street as symbols of love, hope, and equality.

The artwork features two larger-than-life figures holding up a large chunk of the earth. The Tree of Life on top symbolizes our connection to nature, while the female figure honors the community's mothers and caregivers. The young boy, representing the next generation, stands on a pile of books, symbolizing the elevating power of knowledge, and holds up the Tree of Life while his caregiver washes her hands in the river flowing off it in a gesture of love and reciprocation.

At the mural's base are symbols of creativity, emphasizing the role of artists in shaping a better world. A quote by Rumi, chosen by community members, reads, “Love is the bridge between you and everything,” inscribed in an open book.
