This mural project marks the beginning of my journey as an artist, representing my first collaborative community mural. Through serendipity and good timing, I led this project shortly after walking through the doors with my portfolio in hand.

The mural, temporarily installed on a skyscraper at 1765 Weston in Toronto, Ontario, took shape during the summer of 2005. Coordinated by Urban Arts Toronto, this 50' x 10' mural saw nearly 100 local residents participate.

The concept featured a tree growing out of the earth, symbolizing growth and development. The image was divided into over 100 pieces, each bordered and taped off for painting. The canvas was taken to various locations around Weston and Lawrence, where community members filled in the pieces. Participants, encouraged to paint in an abstract style with artist guidance, created vibrant little masterpieces. Once completed, the tape was removed, revealing a large-scale collaborative work of art.
