This artwork was created in collaboration with local youth residents of the Danzig Community throughout the summer of 2023. The concept and themes were developed by the group, inspiring the designs. The artwork was painted by over 30 local children and youth who participated in paid drop-in painting sessions. These young artists were supported by four youth artist leaders from Danzig: Marquise McLeod, Fatma Khamis, Kevonte Quintal, and Leah Quintal. They took on leadership roles, teaching and supporting the children with hands-on art training and skill development.

The theme of the artwork is “The Creators,” representing the creative minds who dedicated time to express themselves through their art forms. Four artistic disciplines were selected to inspire the designs: Music, Visual Arts, Writing, and Dance. The goals of this project were to add a splash of colour and vibrancy to the community while promoting the value of artistic, creative, and self-expressive endeavors, as well as youth employment and art mentorship.
