As part of the "Scarborough Proud" campaign, a significant portion of Golden Mile Plaza was transformed into a dynamic community hub during the summer of 2024. Over six weeks, this activation series converted part of the parking lot into a vibrant gathering place where residents could connect, play, and celebrate the rich mosaic of cultures that define Scarborough.
The artwork aimed to capture the diversity and unity of Scarborough, infusing the space with colour and energy to create a welcoming atmosphere. A standout feature was the transformation of the plaza's front facade, where nearly three stories of glass were vinyl-wrapped with unique artwork that was hand-painted, photographed, and printed on vinyl. This visual installation animated the space and symbolized Scarborough's diverse spirit.
Additionally, a ground mural designed for children to play and interact with further enhanced the visual appeal and engagement of the area.
