This project focused on repainting over 50 deteriorated pillars at 4301 Kingston Rd., spanning 400 feet of high-traffic area. Originally painted between 2006 and 2009, the pillars were primed and repainted with new artwork following community consultations.

The design process began with recruiting a diverse youth team, including past participants James Okore and Joshua Clarke. Outreach efforts were expanded through partnerships with the Children’s Aid Society, Youth Outreach Workers, TCHC, and other city contacts to engage more young artists from the building and surrounding neighborhood.

The design involved weeks of brainstorming and consultations. The team reviewed various artworks and gathered feedback to develop two themes: one side features diverse figures turning away, symbolizing resistance and progress, while the other side showcases a gallery of community-submitted designs. This collaborative approach ensured the artwork resonated with the community, blending diverse styles into a cohesive design.
